The Centre for African Studies visited the Tanzania ICT Commission

On 16 July 2024, Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center, and the Deputy Director Vsevolod Sviridov met with the Commission’s Director General, Nkundwe Moses Mwasaga, at its office in Dar es Salaam.

Russian guests presented expert analytical handbooks, including a description of IT solutions to ensure food sovereignty, which is a challenge for African countries. They also had a fruitful discussion on possible areas of cooperation within the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed joint participation in international IT conferences and opportunities for attracting Russian participants.

The Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC) was established by the Presidential Decree in 2015. It promotes such core values as digital innovation, cooperation, teamwork and competence. It aims to contribute to ICT so as to improve the country’s socio-economic development.

Nkundwe Mwasaga has long-standing relations with the HSE Center for African Studies as he’s already taken part in the Winter E-Governance Knowledge Sharing Week for African officials. As he assumed, Russian-Tanzanian relations are full of opportunities, especially in ICT.
