On 18 July 2024, Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center, and Deputy Director Vsevolod Sviridov met with Chris Baryomunsi, Minister of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance of Uganda.
Among the areas of their joint interest is cybersecurity. On 19 July, the Center’s delegation met with Arnold Mangeni, Director of Information Security at NITA-U, to discuss possible joint research projects in this field.
The meeting was supported by the National Information Technology Authority of Uganda (NITA-U), a governmental body for proper coordination and regulation of information technology services in Uganda. Its main goal is to provide advice to the government on the matters of information technology development, utilization, usability, accessibility, and deployment, including networking, systems development, information technology security, training, and support.
Among the other participants were Evgeny Kalashnikov, Charge d’affaires of Russia in Uganda, and Michael Ocero, Acting Commissioner for e-Services at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
They discussed the Program and projects in the field of e-Governance and partial localization of production of electronic devices and gadgets.
The meeting was organized by Collin Mugasha Babirukamu and Mr. Ocero, who took part in the Winter E-Governance Knowledge Sharing Week in December 2023.\
