The Djibouti Data Centre (DCC) put into operation in Djibouti-City serving as a meeting point for submarine cable systems in the region with access to all major international fibre optic systems connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific regions.
Adoption of a ten-year ICT roadmap as a part of the Integrated Strategic Plan 2014-2024.
Establishment of the National Agency for State Information Systems (ANSIE) which interconnects all administrations in the country via a high-speed network.
A multi-biometric ID documents platform was developed.
Start of the World Bank’s Djibouti Digital Foundations Project in order to assist the Government in promoting the adoption of digital skills and services. Establishment of the Ministry of the Digital Economy and Innovation. Initiation of the development of a Digital Code, a legal digital framework bringing together and updating all the legal and regulatory provisions applicable to the digital sector.
Development of the Draft Djibouti Interoperability Framework by the ANSIE in collaboration with eGA (a joint initiative of the Government of Estonia, the Open Society Institute (OSI) and the United Nations Development Programme). Establishment of a pilot version of the Integrated Electronic Document Management System (SIGED). The eProcurement portal was developed with support from CAC International Bank. The portal, however, is not available for public use yet.
The African Development Bank invested $60 million in the first power interconnection between Djibouti and Ethiopia (which became operational in 2011) to transmit a total of 320 megawatts.
