From January 19 to 23, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the 9th Tanzania Annual ICT Conference (TAIC-2025) took place. The event was organized by the Program’s partner, ICT Commission of Tanzania.
Daria Sukhova, researcher for the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program and the e-Governance Knowledge Hub, as well as researcher at «Integration Expertise LLC», spoke at a panel discussion on «Women Entrepreneurs in the Digital Economy». Experts discussed key challenges and opportunities for women in the digital economy, emphasizing the importance of practice-oriented education, leadership skills development, and retaining talented youth in Tanzania.
Daria Sukhova highlighted the role of international experience exchange in shaping digital skills and data work. She spoke about the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program for African officials implemented since 2022 with support from the Russian Government, Administration of the Russian President and «Innopraktika» company. She also told about the e-Governance Knowledge Hub which facilitates the exchange of expert-analytical materials between Russia and African countries in the field of digital technologies and e-governance.
«We sincerely hope that Tanzania will become an example of how to define and strengthen the role of women in the economy, as well as enable joint research and dissemination of positive experience to other African countries», – the speaker noted.
Panel participants emphasized the key role of using relevant data in both research activities and strategic planning, noting that experience sharing and digitalization are important tools for overcoming challenges faced by women. The digital environment thereby expands opportunities for their professional and entrepreneurial self-realization.
