Launch of Nigeria’s “1Gov Cloud” platform to enable secure interaction between government agencies.

Launch of the Project 774 LG Connectivity aimed at connecting all local government secretariats across Nigeria to the Internet. Introduction of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (NAIS). Establishment of the Nigeria Digital Health Initiative (NDHI). Start of the Fiber Forward project aimed at laying fiber-optic infrastructure.

Nigeria data protection bill was signed into law by the President. The NIMC Self-Service Enrolment System was introduced to help Nigerians to get their NIN using smartphones. Launch of the 3 Million Tech Talent (3MTT) program with a proclaimed aim of training technical and programming skills of the population.

The Nigerian Corporate Registry became effective. The 10-year National E-Government Master Plan was launched by The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The Digital Nigeria Programme introduced. The Digital Nigeria Portal and App were launched to enhance digital literacy and skills. Nigeria’s 2020-2025 National Broadband Plan, addressing coverage and internet penetration, replaces the 2013-2018 document.

Nigerian e-Governance Interoperability Framework was worked out. NITDA launched the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation.

NIN became mandatory. The Federal Inland Revenue Service introduced electronic filing of tax returns and online payment of taxes. The Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity Act was adopted.

The Central Portal for Government Services was launched to deliver public sector online services. Integrated Tax Administration System developed.

NIMC started the National Identity Number (NIN) registration process.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMS) was set up as the government agency responsible for identification. Integrated Pay and Personnel Management system was implemented to eliminate ghost workers and improve efficiency. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was established. The Payments System Vision 2020 was introduced to provide a roadmap for the reform of the Nigerian payments system (revised in 2013).
