The Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development, in partnership with UNICEF, launched an online Child Protection Information Management System. The mobile phone-based tax payment system in Garowe, supported by UN-Habitat, through the Joint Program on Local Governance (JPLG) expanded to four more districts in Puntland in northern Somalia. The Central Bank of Somalia launched the National Payment System (NPS). All 13 banks of Somalia participate in NPS.

Introduction of Aid Information Management System (AIMS) to track the flows of official development assistance (ODA) and to enhance accountability (with support from UNDP, WB, US, EU and other sponsors). The previous system deployed in 2011 was considered ineffective.

Mogadishu was connected to the West Indian Ocean Cable Consortium’s (WIOCC) East Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSY), a high capacity (10Tb/s) fiber-optic cable that links Africa’s East coast to the global fiber optic network.
