Director of the Center participated in the World Summit on the Information Society in Africa (WSIS+20)

From May 14 to 16, 2025, the World Summit on the Information Society in Africa (WSIS+20) was held in Cotonou, Benin. The high-level hybrid event was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), in collaboration with the Government and the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin. 

During the three days of the Summit, African officials, parliamentarians, representatives of private companies and civil society, as well as media and academia reflected on Africa’s digital transformation over the past two decades. 

Director of the Center for African Studies Andrey Maslov took part in the “Continental and regional programs: Digital cooperation and harmonization” session on May 15. It was moderated by Anne Rachel Innee, Director-General of Niger’s National Agency for the Information Society (ANSI). The session discussed digital agendas in African countries implemented at the subregional and regional levels. The participants also elaborated on the best approach to implementing the WSIS results. 

Andrey Maslov opened the session with his “Cooperation for fair analytics about IT markets” report, in which he presented the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program launched in 2022 with the support of the “Innopraktika” company. He spoke about educational events organized under the Program, elaborated on e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Hub with 54 e-gov profiles published on it, as well as with expert and analytical materials according to challenges & solutions model.
